About BrainHi

AI with purpose, born from the hurricane.

A story about healthcare access, engineering, and the belief that technology should reach everyone.

The origin

Born in the eye of a hurricane

BrainHi was born out of necessity. When Hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico, it left behind a fragile healthcare system with the highest rate of medically disenfranchised patients in the U.S., fewer providers, limited access, and growing emigration. Out of this crisis came a vision: to use AI to close gaps in care and expand access for every patient, everywhere.

From crisis came an idea: use AI so no patient is ever left unanswered.

The impact so far

Numbers that tell a story.

  • 31% of Puerto Rico's population served each year
  • 10M+ patient interactions automated
  • 24/7 availability for every call and message
  • 8+ years building responsible AI for healthcare

The founders

Two engineers, one mission.

Emmanuel Oquendo
CEO & Co-Founder

Israel Figueroa
CTO & Co-Founder

BrainHi was co-founded by Emmanuel and Israel, who first met while studying engineering at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez. United by their passion for artificial intelligence, they've spent nearly a decade building AI solutions that impact millions of lives each year, and are now transforming how healthcare connects with patients.
